Becoming Counseling & Wellness

PROJECT DETAILS: When Lexi asked if I could create a logo package for her branding on her new business I was happy to help. The resulting commission was better than I hoped for and my friend now has one less task to do while building her brand.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS: The challenge was that Lexi had already commissioned someone to create her logo, but this person ghosted her after sending her only a small JPEG image of a logo design that Lexi liked. The JPEG was too small to even print legibly on a business card and definitely too tiny for signage on her office space. I had the task of taking this design and revisiting it in a way that made Lexi happier with it, and also providing her with a package of various files and formats for her to work with when it came to branding and usage of the logo overall.

My first task was to recreate the design as a vector so we could play with the shapes, spacing and colors. In doing so I discovered that the inital design wasn't even close to being centered as the logos' image was not aligned with any of the text at all. It looked messy and disconnected. After cleaning it up, I sent it to Lexi for review and we immediately made changes to the wording, spacing and sizes of everything. After that was solidified, it became communication-heavy to really nail down the correct font and colors. The final design needed to feel welcoming, comfortable and safe.

The final design is a very strong piece that carries the feelings Lexi wanted associated with her brand. Her package included the logo in horizontal, vertical, brandmark (just image) and wordmark (just text). Each folder contained various formats and color combinations (color, inverted, black, white) as well as various sizes so she can use it for anything as large as building singage to as small as a business card. She can also print stickers, or make keychains and t-shirts with this logo as she decides to. Both Lexi and I are thrilled with her logo and extra excited to see her business thrive!

SKILLS/PROGRAMS USED: Paper and pencil were used for the initial sketches, then my work was scanned into my computer using my iPhone and traced as a vector, scalable image in Adobe Illustrator. The final logo package included many versions of this logo in many formats and I bounced between Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop for the final files.
