PROJECT DETAILS: Client work. This logo was created for a cosplayer who wanted to "grow up" her brand design. The art direction was "pixel art" so I worked with the cosplayer to make sure that pixels were the focus of the new branding.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS: ChinoChinako already had a logo using a chocobo feather, but wanted to create a more professional logo incorporating her name and more of her web sites' teal color into it. I was able to sketch a few different ideas for the feather shape and placement and eventually settled on having it laying on its side. I used a few different pixel fonts, but some were too thin to work at smaller scale which provided a challenge.
It didn't take too many tries to find one that worked well overall using Google Fonts. The feather was then laid over the entire text box, and rows of pixels were set to decorate the outside of the logo. The colors for the outside pixels shifted from mutilcolored, to teal, to solid yellow, to gradient yellow from left to right, and then settled into gradient yellow from top to bottom as seen above. A drop shadow to the text and feather finished the final look.
