PROJECT DETAILS: A college course project that had to be an online database created in MySQL and accessed through the use of PHP. This database is set up like an eCommerce website in that viewers can search for products and see more details about each product hosted in the database at their own pace, and the theme of the eCommerce website was up to each student to choose.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS: Having never coded with MySQL or PHP previously, I was excited to tackle this as soon as I learned what our final project would be. I have always wanted to learn PHP and this was the perfect opportunity. I found that coding and debugging PHP and MySQL was not as challenging as I had imaginged it would be, and I was often helping my peers in class by debugging their code before the professor had a chance to assist them. It was a really fun way to get to know these coding languages even better.

I used images that I captured with my camera with permission from a local rabbit shelter and created an eCommerce website based around the products they offered in-store. Creating a robust database and asking my professor for additional code to help sort and pull items via my search bar feature was a great way to dive in deeper with these new programming languages. My website (although quite simple in overall design) ended up getting high marks from my professor and my peers referenced my code frequently to help in debugged their own code throughout the course. This website was added to my professors' teaching portfolio with my permission.

SKILLS/PROGRAMS USED: The logo and store hours images were provided by House Rabbit Resource Network (HRRN). Additional product images were taken by me with permission from HRRN. The rabbit stock images were provided by Britannica Image Quest. All of the programming for this site was hand-coded within Adobe Dreamweaver and uses HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, and MySQL.
