JC Website Pixels
PROJECT DETAILS: Does this site look familiar? It should! Since this website of mine has gone through so many iterations and upgrades over time, I wanted to dedicate a space to it within my site itself. I'm including a new section specific to updates made to this space below as well. Thank you for checking out my work!
WEB SITE UPDATES:
- October 2023 Version 3.9 - Removed my X/Twitter link as I am no longer using that social media service. Added a new website, House Rabbit Resource Network and a new landing page, Bunny Boutique, to my Website section. Updated my Current Projects on my Services page.
- May 2023 Version 3.8 - Updated my text logo, the Featured Projects section on the Home page, corrected the footer with the correct year. Corrected an issue with my Contact page in which no emails were coming through. Added a new logo, Becoming Counseling & Wellness, to my Logo section. Updated my Current Projects on my Services page.
- March 2023 Version 3.7c - Corrected the project links on the home page.
- June 2022 Version 3.7b - Updated my current work within my Websites page.
- March 2022 Version 3.7 - Added a small FAQ section to my Contact page. If you have additional questions for this section, just send them along.
- November 2021 Version 3.6b - Updated my current work within my Websites page.
- May 2021 Version 3.6 - Updated my current work within my Services page and corrected two broken links.
- February 2021 Version 3.5 - Bought a personal domain to host my site and all of my work. This domain will also house previews and templates for clients. I'm very excited to finally have a business name attached to my own for freelance work and to no longer be referring to this site my "digital portfolio".
- October 2020 Version 3.1 - Removed my Resume page and added a Services page with my resume now accessible via a LinkedIn link. Added full images of the home page and two inner pages of each website that I have created to each individual website project page. Adjusted the breakpoints of my project overview pages to best fit small screens. Increased the size of my website preview images on the Websites page.
- September 2020 Version 3.0 - Fleshed out every project with three (3) main sections of details including the project details, challenges and solutions, and skills and programs used to create each project. Updated my CSS file to include some sneaky tricks that helped to make updating my web site easier and quicker overall. Also added pages for the web sites and logos of this portfolio and the now completed Renee in Cancerland.
- July 2020 Version 2.5 - Removed graphic design and video production from being listed as my main skills (too broad) and replaced them with a more focused look at logo design and rebranding. With my main skill section slimmed down, I added a Featured Projects section that has fun interactivity and provides a great look at some of the completed work I am most proud of.
- September 2018 Version 2.0 - I rewrote all pages and recoded them to work as PHP instead of as HTML. This offered me more flexiblity within the code of my header and footer, and offered a more overall secure website. I also revisited my individual work pages and removed some of my older work that I didn't feel personally added anything special to my digital portfolio.
- November 2017 Version 1.0 of my digital portfolio was published! As this was a college course final project I received high marks for my overall website design and development of my coding & programming skills.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS: Originally this website was built as my final project in my digital portfolio college course. The class had to create a digital portfolio in order to help us start marketing our skills and have projects ready to show to potential employers. Since I felt confident in my skills, I created the site you see here over the course of five and a half (5.5) weeks. I worked to make sure the projects I included showed my best work and also made sure all of my coding for this site was as clean and legible as possible, knowing that potential employers may also want to check my code. I paid special attention to breakpoints ensuring that my portfolio was clearly viewable on smart devices, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.
I ran into challenges only as I fleshed out my design from what I sketched in my thumbnails to how my inital coding worked, but ultimately I used my strong search skills to look up solutions when I was stumped, finding and implementing real time solutions. The initial version of this site was a little different, and my focuses were all over the place since I hadn't yet found my true calling with web development. As time moved forward I began using my digital portfolio to help me gain clients and freelance work, and once I graduated I had a better idea of my strengths and weaknesses and revised my portfolio to line up with my overall passion of WordPress development, logo design, and social media marketing & management. A few months later I upgraded my website from being called, "Jeannette Chambliss - Digital Portfolio", to "JC Website Pixels"--a business that I am proud of.
SKILLS/PROGRAMS USED: Version 1.0 of this site was built using Adobe Dreamweaver as my notepad and I hand-coded in HTML5, CSS3, and minimal JavaScript. My latest version utilizes PHP, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery--still entirely hand-coded with Adobe Dreamweaver.
